On October 26, 2013, Janelle Monáe made her much anticipated Saturday Night Live debut on NBC. The soulful, funkstress performed two singles from her latest album release The Electric Lady to great reception.

Beginning with the up-beat track "Dance Apocalyptic", Monáe graced the stage in her signature black and white attire. The backdrop of the performance mirrored the two-tone color scheme, with the band and backup singers matching the decorum. The crowd went wild as the entire ensemble bopped to “Bands to make her dance apocalyptic,” the repetitive mantra that can be heard throughout the song.

For the second half of her performance, Janelle reemerged with “Electric Lady”. Janelle took a moment to showcase her dynamic dance moves. Her impressive footwork was reminiscent of moves by James Brown and Michael Jackson.

Janelle Monáe is a force to be reckoned with among the new generation of music talent. This Kansas born, Atlanta bred songbird is quickly becoming a crowd favorite and The Electric Lady is a must download. Visit iTunes today to get your copy of the new album.
