
The Grammy Award-winning musical Hamilton cleaned up at the 2016 Tony Awards on CBS, winning 11 trophies! Producers Jeffery Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, and The Public Theater took home a win for Best Musical; while the show's star and creator, Lin-Manuel Mirand, took home trophies for both Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre!
Leslie Odom, Jr. (Aaron Burr) won a Tony for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical; while Daveed Diggs took home a trophy for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. Renée Elise Goldsberry won a trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical and Alex Lacamoire won for Best Orchestrations.
Additional wins included Best Direction of a Musical by Thomas Kail, Best Choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, Best Lighting Design of a Musical by Howell Binkley, and Best Costume Design by Paul Tazewell!
