Ty Stone

BIO

“Ty Stone is an undeniable talent. He is Blue Eyed Soul at its finest. His powerful and soulful voice are truly something to witness, and the songs he writes are even better.” –KID ROCK

At 11 years old, Ty Stone purchased his first 4 track recorder and began making music. He would spend hours locked in his parents’ basement recording his best imitations of the Beastie Boys and The Fresh Prince. As Ty matured so did his influences, his love for making music, and his amazing voice.

After Ty taught himself to play several instruments, he began writing rock, country, and folk songs. He formed the band “2 Days Straight” in 1999 and began performing live shows in Detroit. The Southern Rock outfit found immediate success locally and was soon noticed by Nashville producer and writer, Blue Miller (India Arie, Blue October). Blue agreed to bring the band to Nashville and produce 2 Days Straight’s first record, “The Chrome Album.” It showcased Stone’s powerful vocals over heavy blues guitar riffs. The recording was critically acclaimed and locally successful, but never received the national attention that Stone began to seek.

Just as the group was poised to follow up their success, Ty was laid off from his job at Great Lakes Steel. Though initially devastated, Ty quickly saw this as an opportunity to escape the family business and pursue his dreams of a career in music. He decided to move to Los Angeles, and got his first taste of performing as a solo act.

Ty spent the next two years performing at every major venue in Los Angeles. He also recorded his first solo record, “TCMFB,” with Brian Irwin producing. Ty and his new band headlined several concerts in Los Angeles for Indie 103.1fm, and Ty’s song, “Beauty Queen,” was featured in full on the finale of ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”

Ironically, it was back in Detroit where Ty would find his next major break. Before Stone had a chance to shop his new record in Los Angeles, one of Ty’s friends gave a copy of it to Kid Rock at a Piston’s game. Impressed, Kid Rock quickly offered to take Ty under his wing and signed him to a development deal with Top Dog records.

Over the next 18 months “Ty Stone and the Truth” recorded an album with Kid Rock at his Clarkston, MI home. Driven to create a nationwide fanbase, Kid Rock hired Ty to open over 40 arena concerts for the “Live Trucker” tour. Ty’s fans now include Uncle Kracker, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams Jr., Big and Rich, Travis Tritt and many others.

Ty is currently signed with Atlantic Records and his debut record is due in early 2008.
