Atlantic Records 2014: Year In Review
By Janine McElhone

2014 was a great year for Atlantic Records! As we look forward to an exciting year ahead, we're taking a look back and highlighting some of our many artists' accomplishments from the past year.

Welcome to the Family

Atlantic Records was proud to announce many new artists this year, and it didn't take long for them to start making waves. To highlight a few: Vance Joy's song "Riptide" became an instant hit, Francesco Yates's "Call" was named the Summer Jam of 2014 by Justin Timberlake, and Melanie Martinez's "Carousel" landed a spot as the American Horror Story: Freak Show theme song.

K. Michelle Gave Us Her Heart

K. Michelle's latest album Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart? relied on her complete sincerity and vulnerability to connect her music with fans. The album debuted at #1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul Album chart, #2 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and #6 on Billboard's Top 200 making her the Top Female R&B Debut of 2014. If that's not enough, she received stellar reviews including Billboard's "Best R&B Album of 2014".

Clean Bandit Made Us Dance... A Lot

Clean Bandit released their debut album New Eyes to much acclaim. "Rather Be" was a #1 hit worldwide for months, and, when it finally hit the United States, it made us dance like crazy. The song recently received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Dance Recording.

Wiz Khalifa Stayed Out All Night

Wiz Khalifa set a new personal record with Blacc Hollywood, his third studio album. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and was the first of his albums to take the top spot in its first week. Khalifa received two GRAMMY nominations this year: Best Rap Album for Blacc Hollywood and Best Rap Song for "We Dem Boyz". He also released an interactive video for "Staying Out All Night" that gave us all a chance to see what it's like to have a night out with Wiz.

Bruno Slayed the Superbowl

Even though he didn't release new music this year, Bruno Mars had the honor performing at the Superbowl Half Time Show in February. The audience was the largest in US TV history! If you missed out on the incredible show, check it out here

David Guetta Made Us Listen

David Guetta put his heart and soul into Listen, his sixth studio album. His hit single, "Dangerous", was accompanied by an epic music video that can be found here. Most recently, the track was released as the world's first dual-screen music video! Fans can expect some great singles to come out of this album early next year.

We Were All SUCKERs For Charli XCX

After "Fancy" and "Boom Clap" gave Charli XCX an incredible summer, she released her second album, SUCKER. Rolling Stone named the album #1 on their 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014 list and it received high ratings from Billboard. She also made a name for herself on almost every awards or talk show this year, including her most recent performance on Saturday Night Live. "Fancy" earned Charli two GRAMMY nominations!

Coldplay Told Some Ghost Stories

Coldplay released Ghost Stories earlier this year including hits "Magic" and "Sky Full of Stars". They also jumped into new territories as they released a beautiful, interactive video for "Ink". The album earned the band two GRAMMY nominations including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "A Sky Full of Stars" and Best Pop Vocal Album for Ghost Stories. The band also received a nomination for Best Music Film for their Ghost Stories Live DVD released earlier this month.

Ed Sheeran Multiplied His Success

2014 was a huge year for Ed Sheeran! Most recently, he was named the world's most streamed artist of 2014 by Spotify. His new album, X, debuted at #1 and earned him 3 huge GRAMMY nominations including Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Song Written For Visual Media, and Album of the Year. "Thinking Out Loud", his latest single, became the highest charting US single of his career so far, and the beautiful music video has reached over 86 million views!

If this list is any indication, we have lots to look forward to in 2015. Thanks for a great year!
